Power BI DAX Training in Dubai
What You Will Master
DAX Foundations
Syntax, data types, operators and the difference between calculated columns and measures — done properly from the start.
Filter & Row Context
The single most important concept in DAX: how context flows, and why the same measure gives different results in different places.
CALCULATE
Master context transition and CALCULATE — the function that unlocks the vast majority of real-world business calculations.
Time Intelligence
Year-to-date, month-over-month, year-over-year and rolling averages built on a proper date table.
Iterators & Variables
SUMX, AVERAGEX and friends, plus VAR to write DAX that is readable, testable and easy to maintain.
DAX Performance
Understand the storage and formula engines, spot slow patterns, and optimise measures for fast reports.
What You Will Be Able to Do
- Confidently explain and control row context and filter context
- Use CALCULATE and context transition for complex business logic
- Build a robust date table and full time-intelligence measures (YTD, MoM, YoY)
- Write iterator functions (SUMX, AVERAGEX) correctly
- Use variables (VAR) to simplify and speed up your DAX
- Create advanced patterns: ranking, moving averages, what-if and dynamic KPIs
- Diagnose and fix incorrect or slow measures
- Write DAX that other people can read, reuse and trust

Power BI DAX — FAQ
What level is this course?
Intermediate to advanced. It assumes you can already build a basic Power BI report. If you are brand new, start with Power BI Essentials.
Why is DAX so hard to learn on your own?
Because filter context is invisible until someone shows it clearly. This course is built around making context — the concept most people get stuck on — intuitive.
Do we use real examples?
Yes. We work through finance and operations scenarios, and where possible your own measures and data, so the learning transfers directly to your reports.
Online or in person?
Both — live online across the UAE, or on-site in Dubai for teams.
Will this help with the PL-300 exam?
The DAX topics here overlap strongly with the modelling and calculation areas of Microsoft’s PL-300. We also offer dedicated PL-300 Exam Preparation.
Can it be customised for my team?
Yes. We tailor the depth, pace and examples to your team’s current skill level and reporting needs.
